Overview
Pace helps readers move through dense PDFs and long-form source material while preserving context. This policy explains what information Pace may collect, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Pace, we may collect the following categories of information:
- Account information, such as your name, email address, authentication identifiers, and login metadata.
- Document information, such as uploaded PDFs, extracted text, document titles, page structure, and source URLs.
- Reading data, such as reading progress, speed settings, highlights, notes, bookmarks, cleanup edits, and exports.
- Technical information, such as device, browser, operating system, IP address, logs, and usage events.
- Support information you send us when you contact us.
How we use information
We use information to provide and improve Pace, including to:
- Import, parse, display, and synchronize documents.
- Save reading sessions, highlights, notes, bookmarks, and document context.
- Authenticate users and protect accounts.
- Maintain reliability, debug issues, prevent abuse, and secure the service.
- Respond to support requests and product feedback.
Documents and notes
Your PDFs, extracted text, highlights, and notes are handled as user content. Pace uses this content to provide the reading, review, persistence, and export features you ask it to perform. We do not sell your document content.
If Pace uses automated extraction, cleanup, or analysis features, those features may process document text to produce reading-friendly structure, highlights, or notes. We do not use your uploaded documents or notes to train foundation models unless we clearly ask for permission or you explicitly opt in.
Local and cloud storage
Some Pace data may be stored locally in your browser or device. If you use sync or account features, some data may also be stored in cloud services so it can be available across sessions and devices.
Service providers
We may rely on service providers for hosting, authentication, database storage, file handling, analytics, monitoring, email, and similar operations. These providers process information for Pace under their own security and privacy commitments. Current infrastructure may include services such as Netlify, Convex, Clerk, and other operational providers used to run the product.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers, when required by law, to protect Pace and its users, during a business transfer, or with your direction and consent.
Retention and deletion
We keep information for as long as needed to provide Pace, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and maintain backups. You may request deletion of your account or user content by contacting us at privacy@readwithpace.com.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so you should avoid uploading documents that you are not comfortable processing through Pace.
Children
Pace is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as Pace changes. The updated date above will show when the policy was last revised.
